Assuming all else is equal, companies that have both a higher return on equity and higher profit retention are usually the ones that have a higher growth rate when compared to companies that don't have the same features. Even compared to the average industry ROE of 12%, the company's ROE is quite dismal. Although, we can see that Advantage Energy saw a modest net income growth of 16% over the past five years. We believe that there might be other aspects that are positively influencing the company's earnings growth. Such as - high earnings retention or an efficient management in place. Next, on comparing with the industry net income growth, we found that Advantage Energy's reported growth was lower than the industry growth of 27% over the last few years, which is not something we like to see. Namely, its respectable earnings growth, which it achieved due to it retaining most of its profits. However, given the low ROE, investors may not be benefitting from all that reinvestment after all.
