Rakon Ltd (NZX:RAK), a manufacturer of precision timing and frequency control products, confirmed that its Mercury plus® product line has completed internal testing and achieved initial volume production at the Bengaluru, India facility. The product line was relocated from Rakon’s New Zealand site earlier in 2025.

This production milestone demonstrates the company’s approach to utilise its international operations by transferring products across sites to increase manufacturing capacity, improve operational efficiency, support research and development, and meet next-generation customer requirements.

Executive Statement

Chief Executive Sinan Altug commented:

“The Mercury plus(R) product line contains some of our high volume, cutting-edge products for telecommunications and AI & data centre applications. By successfully transferring and ramping-up this line in our new facility in India we expect to realise key benefits aligned to our 2026 Annual Operating Plan, including improved overhead structure, extended product lifecycles and competitive product costs.

This transfer reiterates our long-term commitment to expanding our integrated global manufacturing operations and leveraging this competitive advantage. We are planning to build on Rakon’s global manufacturing and R&D footprint, scaling progressively across our existing locations to enable further efficiencies.”

Facility Specifications and Capabilities

Opened in 2023, the Bengaluru site covers 9,290m² and immediately doubled Rakon’s production capacity. Additional capacity can be brought online as needed, enabling the company to manage future demand. The facility hosts both R&D and production activities and forms a core part of Rakon’s integrated global operations, which also include sites in New Zealand, India, France, and other locations.

Distributing production across multiple regions allows Rakon to maintain strategic supplier status, mitigate supply chain risks, and adapt to global market or geopolitical developments.

India Operations and Collaborations

The Bengaluru site plays a strategic role in fulfilling domestic demand as part of India’s ‘Make in India’ program. Rakon has maintained operations in India for over 16 years and employs more than 300 staff at the facility.

The company partners with the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) and various private Indian space enterprises. It also contributes to the domestic deployment of 5G networks and data centre technologies through local production of advanced wireless network equipment.
