Strategic Energy Resources (SER) has received two grants totalling more than A$400,000 ($278,604) under Round 10 of the Queensland Government's Collaboration Exploration Initiative (CEI). This funding will support drilling activities at two sites: the Diamantina Copper-Gold Project and the Bulimba Gold Project. The Diamantina Copper-Gold Project, wholly owned by SER, received a grant of A$275,000. It is situated around 280km south of Cloncurry. With this funding, the company aims to explore potential extensions of mineralisation identified in historical drill-hole DCT010, which previously recorded intersections of 6.5m at 0.52% copper and 0.16% nickel from 423m². The site is situated approximately 500m south-west of another drill site, DTD002, where intersections included 161m at 0.4% copper and 0.11 grams per tonne of gold from 449m². Another grant of A$137,500 was awarded for drilling at the Bulimba Gold Project, positioned approximately 50km north-west of Chillagoe in north-east Queensland. The project will focus on testing a reversely magnetised intrusion related gold style-epithermal gold target. A non-binding joint venture (JV) agreement with Sumitomo Metal Mining Oceania (SMMO), a subsidiary of Sumitomo Metal Mining, was announced earlier this year for the Bulimba project. The drilling programme is expected to be the initial phase under this JV. Preparations for initiating drilling programmes at both projects in the upcoming field season are in progress, with efforts focused on finalising land access agreements and logistics. Negotiations for a binding JV agreement with SMMO are ongoing. Once executed, the combined Exploration Committee will convene to complete the forward work plan at Bulimba, incorporating the CEI-funded drilling programme. Strategic Energy Resources managing director David DeTata said: “The Queensland Government’s CEI programme provides funding for mineral exploration programmes that are technically sound, innovative, address vital knowledge gaps and contribute to the discovery of critical minerals in Queensland. “The award of two grants this year is recognition of our ability to identify highly prospective projects with the potential size and scale to attract grant funding to test innovative exploration and discovery concepts.” "SER receives two Queensland exploration grants" was originally created and published by Mining Technology, a GlobalData owned brand.
